Wabi Tote
The Wabi tote is a mix of modern Western pop culture (the shopping bag) with the Japanese principle of Wabi-Sabi (the appreciation of transience and imperfections). Each tote is made from the off-cuts (the waste) from second-hand materials (old Kimono, Haori, Obi or unused vintage materials) that have been used for the making of other garments.
Each scrap of fabric left from cutting other garments was kept aside in order to waste nothing. For strength each tote has an inner layer of stiff canvas that used to be the “soul” of an Obi (worn to tie a Kimono).
Each tote is unique and there is no other like it in the entire world.
A tote features a multitude of materials, some natural (silk/cotton), some synthetic, nonetheless all special. The tote’s lining is cut from a new material and features a small pocket.
The straps are stitched through all layers of the tote.
Each tote comes with a companionship letter.
A tote measures roughly around 50 cm in depth and 40 cm in width (only the bag part).
