Balkan Baroque

Balkan Baroque is a range that juxtaposes hard-laboured items from the Balkan region (crocheted table runners, curtains, bed coverings etc) with second-hand sportswear items from the fast-fashion contemporary garments production. Through collaging distinct aesthetics we aim to generate unique items that bring together distinct temporalities. The juxtaposition of local and global aesthetics has the potential to question what identity is in a global world where we have all became a mix of geographies and temporalities. Each Balkan Baroque items is unique and follows our key principles of zero-waste up-cycling, being produced from second-hand or donated/discarded items. Each Balkan Baroque piece is a statement against effacing cultural markers and also represents an expression of our Romanian identity.
